Newsletters

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2026!

We’ve been touched by the wonderful feedback regarding our lessons and teachers. Please know that your comments are always shared with our Lesson Managers and instructors; they are vital in helping us maintain the high standard of coaching you expect from us.
It has been an incredibly busy start to the year. We’ve seen a wave of progress, with many swimmers moving up through the stages—it’s especially exciting to see so many transitioning from Stages 1–4 into our Stage 5–8 lane classes. Well done to all our swimmers on their hard work! To those who joined the hydroschool family for the first time this term: a very warm welcome. We hope you’re loving your time in the water.

A few quick housekeeping notes:

  • Poolside Hygiene: Please remember to wear the provided shoe covers when poolside to help us keep the environment clean for the swimmers.
  • Safe Parking: When dropping off at Eastbourne College, please avoid parking in front of the main gates or on double yellow lines (Old Wish Road/Carlisle Road). Clear visibility is essential for everyone’s safety.
  • Next Term Dates: Our next term runs from 23rd February to 29th March (a 5-week term).

Note: There are no lessons on Saturday, 28th February due to a college open day. Pricing has been adjusted to reflect this.

We look forward to seeing you all back in the pool for the new term.
Adrian

We are thrilled to announce our latest award winners! These individuals have gone above and beyond to support our swimmers, and we’ve rewarded their dedication with gift vouchers as a token of our appreciation.

Tim (Teacher, Eastbourne)
Tim is our longest-serving team member, and this term he reached a truly incredible milestone: 100% attendance over the last 10+ years. This is a staggering achievement that perfectly reflects his passion for swimming and his commitment to his students.

Kai (Teaching Assistant, Eastbourne)
Kai joined us as a volunteer and has quickly become an indispensable part of the team. Now a Teaching Assistant, his helpful nature has made him a firm favourite among both our staff and our swimmers.

Eloise (Teacher, Bexhill)
Huge congratulations to Eloise, who recently earned her Level 2 Swim England teaching qualification. She has stepped up from her role as an assistant to become the Lead Teacher for Stage 1 in Bexhill—a big transition that she has handled with fantastic results.

Meet the Team

Hello, I'm Wendy,
I am one of the Lesson Managers at hydroschool, a Swim England tutor teaching and examining new teachers looking to gain qualifications. I am also the Sussex ASA President.
I joined hydroschool  around 10 years ago as a teacher and have progressed to one of the Lesson Mangers respopnsible for lessons on Wednesdays and Saturdays at Eastbourne College.
I have been from a very early age a competitive swimmer and continue this now as a swimmer at Eastbourne Swimming Club now swimming in the Masters section which I also coach.
I have a deep love of swimming. It has been a part of my life for many years. Teaching provides a huge degree of satisfaction for me personally seeing swimmers grow from non swimmers to the lane classes.

I am always happy to discuss you swimmers progress and the next steps. Please feel free to chat when I am poolside.

Enjoy your lessons... keep splashing
Wendy
